The London Borough of Waltham Forest is located Southwest of Stansted airport a distance of 28 miles that would take around 40 minutes by taxi via the M11. It is located in northeast London and has a population of 259,700 according to 2011 statistics.
The borough is made up of built-up urban districts, with a variety of reservoirs, open space, small sections of Epping Forest, parks, and playing fields, which together cover a fifth of the borough. The districts include Bakers Arms, Cann Hall, Chingford, Chingford Hatch, Friday Hill, Hale End, Highams Park, Leyton, Leytonstone, Walthamstowe, Whipps Cross and Upper Walthamstowe. It is historically associated with the Arts and Crafts movement with the famouse pre-raphaelite designer William Morris being born in Walthamstowe in 1834. Other famous residents have included London boyband East 17, Alfred Hitchcock, David Beckham and Graham Gooch.
The area has many interesting places to visit including Walthamstowe Old Town-a preserved rural village with buildings dating from the fifteenth century, Walthamstowe Market-the longest market in Britain, the William Morris Gallery-dedicated to his life and works and Victoria Park.
